Bao La "The Story"
When a Journey Becomes a Human Adventure
Good morning,
We are Béa and Négib, two French travelers driven by curiosity, wonder, and a desire for authentic encounters. Our two-month journey to Bali, then across Vietnam, changed our lives beyond what we could have imagined.
During the last week of our trip, chance—or perhaps fate—led us to a hotel in Hue, Timothy Homestay, where we met Knok and Kyle, hosts of rare generosity. Very quickly, a deep bond was formed, to the point of feeling like family. The day before our departure for Hanoi, they offered us a priceless gift: the discovery of a timeless village, Bao La, where bamboo and rattan crafts have been passed down for nearly 600 years.
In this village, we met Vo Van Dinh, the director, and Nguyên Thi Nguyên, the sales manager, who opened the doors of their workshops to us. We were overwhelmed by the beauty and precision of the gestures, by the passion that drives each artisan. Here, each piece is woven, cut, and assembled by hand, using ancestral know-how passed down from generation to generation. We filmed, photographed, admired... and above all, we were deeply moved.
While visiting the exhibition room, we were amazed by the creativity, finesse and quality of the works: lamps, baskets, tables, chairs, shelves... Each object tells a story, each detail breathes the soul of the village.
But behind this beauty, we discovered a harsher reality: sales are down, and the entire community is suffering, because here, everything operates as a cooperative. Everyone's income depends on the success of the creations.
In the car, the same dream sprang up in our hearts: what if we helped these artisans showcase their talent in Europe and around the world? What if, together, we changed their daily lives?
We shared our idea with Vo Van Dinh and Nguyên Thi Nguyên, and this is how this human and united adventure was born: to offer you, through our store, unique, eco-responsible, sustainable works, handcrafted with love and respect for nature.
More Than a Purchase, a Gesture of Hope
By choosing a Bao La creation, you're not just beautifying your home. You're becoming a part of an extraordinary story. You're supporting a village, enabling families to earn a decent living from their art, helping to preserve ancestral know-how and passing this passion on to future generations.
Each piece is unique, like the story it carries. Buying from us means giving a second life to tradition, giving meaning to your decor, and participating in a human, ecological, and supportive adventure.
We're counting on you, just as the villagers are counting on us. Together, let's make this wonderful adventure grow, so that the light of Bao La continues to shine, here and elsewhere.
Thank you for being a part of this story.
